As the year 2020 came to a close, many of us were eagerly ready to usher it out! It would not be difficult to compile a very lengthy list of the challenges, hardships, stresses and losses. You can certainly drown in those negative thoughts. So, in these “unprecedented times,” how do we find the right perspective to make what seems like an impossible situation possible? 

I have been at Dimensions Education Programs in Lincoln, Nebraska, for over 28 years, first as a teacher and now as director. In the early childhood field, we know that our job is not easy, even in the best of times. The era of COVID-19 has forced us far beyond what we know to be normal and routine. I know you are probably thinking, what is normal and routine anymore? There have been so many changes—classroom group sizes, cleaning procedures, families not being allowed in our buildings, taking children and staff temperatures, wearing masks, and handwashing more than we did before, just to name a few.
