- Situation -

I am sick of chatting about the relative merits of cloth versus paper diapers. I want to banish this topic from my vocabulary, but my son won't cooperate! I just want him to use the potty. All of his classmates wear "big boy" clothes. He doesn't care. He refuses. Meanwhile I am still clipping ads for disposable diapers, now in the extra, extra, extra large size!


- Solution -

Few of us save labels from our disposable diapers to include in Junior's baby book. Even when they are festooned with gala cartoon characters, come in pastel shades or sports logos, diapers are not a parent's delight.

Readiness lies at the bottom (so to speak) of toilet training troubles. Unfortunately, mom and dad are often "ready" before Junior.

Readiness involves three factors - physical readiness, emotional readiness, and environmental readiness. Mom and dad are physically ready to pitch the diapers out the door, feeling pretty emotional about the topic, not to mention sick of living in an environment rich in potty paraphernalia. But what about Junior?
