In the Winter 2023 issue of Exchange, Shannon Pope contributed to Bridging Research to Practice with her article, Provocations to Play for Teachers and Children: Play-Based Learning and Playful Participatory Research. This article features Pope’s journey through a playful research study with educators in her Boston-based school, Stoney Brook School. At the time of her research, Pope was enrolled in the master’s of arts in Innovative Early Childhood Education, an online program co-developed by Boulder Journey School and the University of Colorado Denver. Our course of study has three pathways, each inviting educators nationally and globally to study the philosophy, foundational ideas and the contextualized practices from the infant toddler centers and preschools of Reggio Emilia, Italy.
