Last time we talked about parent communication tools, and in previous articles we have described tools for learning online. Improvements, innovations, and new applications are constantly being developed to improve digital communications, and the exchange of ideas and information and some of these interactive tools are making their way into online learning. You may already be using some of these interactive tech tools in your daily life, but did you ever imagine them as learning tools? Here are a few you may soon use for teacher education and professional development.

Tech Terms

• Blog: Short for web log. An asynchronous tool that enables a single user to post text-based messages and electronic files to a publicly accessible Web page. It is typically updated on a daily or weekly basis.

• Cellular Phone: A portable telephone that is not connected by a wire to the telephone network. Uses wireless radio wave transmission technology to connect to a network. In addition to the voice function some phones also support wireless Internet access, e-mail, text messaging, sending and receiving photos and video, a digital music player, a digital camera, and personal organizer functions.
