I'm outta here.In January, the long-awaited findings of the Cost, Quality, and Child Outcomes in Child Care Centers study were released. This study undertook the most ambitious research to date on the relationship between the cost of center-based child care and the impact of that care on the development of children.

Research was conducted in the spring and summer of 1993 with parent and staff interviews and classroom observations in 50 for profit and 50 non profit centers in Colorado, Connecticut, California, and North Carolina. The prodigious research effort was led by Suzanne Helburn and Mary Culkin from the University of Colorado at Denver, Carolle Howes from UCLA, Sharon Kagan from Yale University, and Richard Clifford from the University of North Carolina.
