A study from 2019 by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that 60 percent of American adults report having at least one adverse childhood experience, and almost a quarter reported three or more according to the CDC. These numbers are even more sobering when you consider that the CDC researchers believe them to be an underestimate.”

In 2019, Child Trends reported that “children exposed to traumatic life events are at significant risk for developing serious and long-lasting problems across multiple areas of development.
