The Reggio Emilia approach is complex and nuanced in its implementation into North American educational systems. While the approach is in many ways uniquely Italian, it can inspire our practice, too, as we have seen in the preceding articles. However, because of its complexity and nuance, it is often helpful to seek professional development and support to guide your study. Luckily there are many avenues to support this journey.

Conferences

You will likely find many Reggio inspired workshops at your local and national early childhood conferences. This is especially true at NAEYC. These are a great place to start, along with the Innovations and Reggio Publications, which can be found at reggioalliance.org. However, if you are looking for more in-depth conferences you can look to the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance. The NAREA summer, winter and fall conferences always have presenters from Reggio Emilia, including the virtual conferences now being offered. As a member of the Reggio Children International Network, NAREA is currently promoting the digital study groups and a digital Fundamental Values of the REA series which is also being led by Reggio educators.
