This article was inspired by an amazing event. While rummaging through a box of books on special for $2 each at a local children's book shop, I came across - wait for it - Going to Day Care (1985) by Fred Rogers. It was amazing to be reminded of my old friend after so long - amazing to find a vestige of him in Darwin, Australia.I bought the book, secure in the feeling that if Mister Rogers had anything to do with it, it was bound to be nice. I was not disappointed. The child going to day care was nice, the family was nice, the caregivers were nice, and the program was - you guessed it - nice. No nasty staff turnover or head lice or broken tricycles or lining up to go to the bathroom or kids biting you here!
