Joshua, age 4, is in the block area constructing something that resembles a bridge with roadways and ramps. Miss Janet has been observing him for a while when he calls her over to see what he has made. “Look, Miss Janet! I made the road to my house and the parking garage Mommy puts our car in when we get home!” Miss Janet  ­replies, “I see the road with a car on it and a ramp with cars all around it. You worked for a long time on this. I’m impressed.” ­Joshua smiles and continues to add to his construction. Shortly afterward he calls her over again and says, “Look! I made where we live, too. I worked a long time and made it all by myself. I’m impressed!”
